You unravel me
Like a tight knit ribbon slowly loosens on a dress as the bow slowly lessens its force
Like a child unwraps a birthday gift so quickly and urgently
You unravel me

It's one thought, one comment, one memory--
And I fear to freely unravel because I don't want to give up yet,
so I let you unravel me

I let you say more than you should
and the ribbon begins to swirl from my heart
it weaves itself through all the holes made from you--and
I think the unravelling is going to end with you loving me

As I learn courage and fierce endearment that sings with devotion
I learn to slowly let the unravelling happen in
hopes the ribbon will cling to the Chicago windy alleys and one day
will be carefully cut for someone else to tie together
